Resort Overview

So you're planning your honeymoon or next big trip with Thailand in your sights.

Most people who visit Thailand have a few must-dos they want to check off their bucket list: living the island beach life, having a once in a lifetime elephant experience, and being immersed in the rice paddies of the countryside.

In order to check the latter two off your list, you will likely be heading to Chiang Mai, the former capital of Thailand. Chiang Mai is a more quiet city than Bangkok and is known for its delicious cuisine, ancient temples, and friendly hospitality.

If you're looking for a remote experience outside the city to soak up the lush green countryside, the Four Seasons Chiang Mai is the luxury resort that has everything you need.

Here are 5 reasons why you need to stay at the Four Seasons Chiang Mai:

1. A resort with Northern Thai hospitality

From the moment you arrive you will be treated like a VIP. First you will be picked up by golf cart and shuttled down a tree-lined entrance to the lobby.

You will then be greeted with leis of freshly picked flowers that are grown on the property. As you wait for your booking details, cool wet towels and lemongrass tea are provided to escape the afternoon heat.

Welcoming? Definitely an understatement.

It doesn't stop there. Your room will be filled with the seasonal spread of Thai fruit. Over the course of your stay you can expect to receive pleasant surprises in your room like drinkable coconuts, turn down service, and elephant shaped towel arrangements.

Outside the room, there will always be someone near by to help. Rest assure the staff will make you feel comfortable and at home giving you just the right amount of attention without being over the top.

2. A resort with accommodation options for all vacationers

The range of luxury villas, residences, and pavilions at the Four Seasons ensures that you will get the right room that fits your needs.

If you are a honeymooner or a couple looking to celebrate an anniversary, we recommend the privacy and romantic aura of the Pool Villa.

This 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom villa has all the ingredients for a vacation you'll remember for years.

Equipped with your very own outdoor shower, private pool, and outdoor patio, you and your significant other can expect complete privacy in and outdoors. You can even receive pool side spa treatments as well as dinner on your patio.

But maybe you will be traveling with your family or perhaps taking a dual family trip.

The larger Residences provide ample space for everyone with options ranging from 3 to 4 bedroom with multiple master bedrooms, private pools, and communal eating spaces. The Residences are capable of holding up to 10 people and are the perfect setting for your best group vacation yet.

To help you decide which room is right for you, watch the video above for a sneak peek into each option.

3. A private resort that gives you exclusive VIP treatment

As I just mentioned, the Private Villas and Residences provide the privacy and space that honeymooners, families, and groups long for. What I left out were the VIP perks you can experience during your stay.

One benefit in particular is the option of having your own personal live-in butler who will cook, clean, and make sure you and your guests have everything you need.

Lastly, I'm not the type of person who likes to gossip or even care about any of the latest celebrity happenings, but I must add that this resort has a history of hosting Hollywood A-list celebrities. As I write this I can see Alex rolling her eyes... but come on! It at least helps paint the picture of how amazing the resort is.

4. A resort with activities for everyone

The Four Seasons is about 45 minutes outside of the Old City of Chiang Mai, tucked away within the natural wonders of the Mae Rim Valley. This amazing location means that there will never be a shortage of activities for you or anyone in your group.

To start, the activities on the resort property are incomparable.

The staff does such a great job keeping guests entertained day after day with a steady stream of scheduled activities. I'm talking about sunrise yoga next to the pond, Muay Thai lessons in the workout facility, and free rental bikes to explore the surrounding trails.

One of the more unique activities that you won't find anywhere else is rice planting.

Now this may sound like your run of the mill tourist gimmick, but I was pleasantly surprised by how educational and entertaining this was. You'll learn everything that goes into rice production from seed to plate. Knowing all the hard work that goes into a rice harvest, you'll never want to waste a grain of rice again!

Lastly, the resort is also within close driving range of other attractions fit for the adventurers and nature lovers of the family.

For the nature lovers, there is the Mae Sa Waterfall, the Chiang Dao Cave, and panoramic mountain views. And for the adventurer, there are elephant sanctuaries, white water rafting, zip-lining, hot air balloon rides, hiking, and biking trails.

5. A resort with authentic and delicious cuisine

If you're anything like me, I travel for the food. I will literally try anything – the more bizarre, the better. I search for the most authentic culinary experience and dive right in.

If great food is what you are looking for, you won't be disappointed. The Four Seasons has KHAO (which translates to "rice" in Thai), a restaurant that serves true Northern Thai cuisine.

The menu is a true representation of Northern Thai, with many unique dishes I had not yet tasted since we arrived in Thailand. All were delicious.

After asking around, a few locals on the resort helped me confirm that the restaurant does a great job highlighting flavors that are indigenous to the region and that locals are actually eating. I was sold.

One more thing. For those who may be intimidated about eating Thai food for two weeks straight (or however long you are planning on staying in Thailand), have no fear.

There is also an amazing Italian restaurant on site that has an Italian chef at the helm. You better believe that we took advantage of this perk as it's sometimes hard to come by legitimate Western cuisine, like Italian, in Southeast Asia.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, the Four Seasons does all the little things right that will take a good vacation and make it an absolutely great one. The unmatched location, privacy, friendly and hospitable staff, and the endless things to do make this a prime choice for a traveling family or honeymooning couple.
